As the Dungeons and Dragons movie soon hits movie theatres, two Nashville creatives are bringing their Dungeons and Dragons' inspired storytelling to life on the small screen.

Meet Michael Rusco and Michael Valentine, creators of a Dungeons and Dragons-inspired game show filmed here in Nashville. The reality series, Die Inspired, features 70+ Nashville-area players competing for a cash prize. To envision the series, think Survivor meets a custom-made fantasy world. Airing now on YouTube (@DieInspired), episodes follow players as they navigate Game Master Rusco's world, move-by-move and roll-by-roll.

Filmed at The Game Keep, a tabletop gaming store in Hermitage, TN, the players competed in a fantasy world sculpted by Rusco and Val.

"After playing these games for years, we wanted to offer a fresh take on the tabletop, role-playing genre. It's the first show of its kind with a cash prize for the winners. When you watch Die Inspired, you get to witness the results of our reality show experiment." -- Michael Rusco, Game Master

In this video, Rusco explains the rules and stakes in the game show.

The movie is seeing early solid reviews, scoring an 85% positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The movie itself points to the enduring popularity of the role-playing genre. While the Die Inspired series is in its early stages on YouTube, other YouTube role-playing channels boast almost 2 million subscribers. Val and Rusco see it as just a matter of time for Die Inspired.
