Gamma Blast’s work will be under many a Christmas tree this year. On the shelves now for Christmas is a DVD Gamma Blast shot, edited and authored for Charlie Daniels Band called Joy to the World: A Bluegrass Christmas. The Christmas concert of Charlie Daniels and his friends Kathy Mattea, Dan Tyminski, Suzanne and Evelyn Cox of the Cox Family, Aaron Tippin and The Grascals includes live performances, as well as additional commentary and interview footage with Daniels and the rest of the artists. Gamma Blast’s Chad Denning directed and edited with Grand Ole Opry veteran Tim Weeks wearing the producer’s hat. The DVD is included as part of a deluxe CD package.
And baby, while it’s cold outside now, when the DVD was shot, it was one of the hottest days of the year in June. Artists did rehearsals in shorts and T-shirts then changed into their Christmas sweaters for the shooting among 37 lit Christmas trees.
“Even with the heat, it wasn’t hard to get into the Christmas spirit with such great music. Dan Tyminski’s version of “The Christmas Song” left the entire crew speechless because it was spot on. We shot it in one take,” says Director/Editor Chad Denning.
Great American Country (GAC) will broadcast a version of the DVD concert December 3rd at 8pm (ET).
